Walks At Dinefwr National Park

Dinefwr National Park has a National Nature Reserve, historic house, castle ruins and 18th-century landscape park, enclosing a medieval deer park, which is all on our doorstep, just a 30-minute walk or 2-minute drive from the Hotel.

Dinefwr Park is one of the most illustrious places in Welsh history, a stunning 800-acre estate on the outskirts of the old farming town of Llandeilo. Enclosed within this beautiful landscape is the ruins of Dinefwr Castle.

Walking around Dinefwr Park is a must during your visit to Carmarthenshire. We have chosen two of our favourite walks within Dinefwr which we love.

1. Dinefwr Castle Walk

Starting from the car park by the visitor centre, following the signs for the castle, which will take you through the castle woods and up the hill to the top where the Castle is situated. The views from the castle are amazing overlooking the Twyi Valley.

2. Capability Brown Walk

Begin the walk from Dinefwr welcome centre, following the driveway up past the front gates of Newton House. Carry on through the drive and through the wooden gate making a left turn once through the gate. you can follow the sign to the ice house, or head straight on and go through the gate into the deer park. Follow this path through the woods down to the mill pond, where you will go over the bridge between the mill pond and the pump house. Continue to follow the track around the mill pond and out onto the Castle Field. At this point on the walk, you can detour up to the Castle through the forest or head back to the welcome centre to finish the walk.
