Amble Around Abergorlech Forest

Dog Friendly

A 13 mile drive from The Plough, this stunning Forest is well worth a visit. All paths start from the Forestry Commission Picnic Site in Brechfa. Abergorlech is a small village located next to Brechfa Forest on the B4310 road. Follow the A482 between Lampeter and Llandovery until the turn off for Llansawel (B4302). Once in Llansawel follow signs for Abergorlech

For those who like more strenuous walking take the longer walk of 8 km, taking up to 3 hours. Ensure that you have stout footwear as the walkways and bridges can become slippery underfoot. The "School Path" however, which is a short 2 mile walk is suitable for families and buggies.

Make sure you wear stout footwear as the paths can sometimes be muddy – all walks start at the Forestry Commission picnic site.

The School Path walk is a short two mile loop which follows in part the River Cothi, whilst the longer walk of 4 miles continues along the school path, down a slippery path cut into solid rock, and looping across farmland. There are also Forest Walks which use forest roads and paths on Forestry Commission land. There are three loops of 1, 2, and 3 miles waymarked in one direction.
